What Is A Wireless Hard Drive?

<

This may seem to be a simple question to those in the know, but really at its base isn't quite so staright forward as most people think.  At its most basic level, a wireless hard drive is a hard disc drive that is accessible from any device via a wireless connection.  Accessing wirelessly is becoming increasingly popular these days and in many cases the only way people connect to the internet.  So your device connects via the same manner as it would to your modem (or router) to gain access to the internet.  From there, however, is where it differs.

what-is-a-wireless-hard-driveConnecting to the router to gain access to the innerwebs is one thing and it involves going outside of your home and accessing the world wide web.  With a wireless hard drive we are still connecting to a router or similar wirelessly, we are just then connecting to a physical hard drive somewhere physically near us.  Normally this would be in your house in a hidden away spot, but it really could be just about anywhere that you can still get a clear signal and gain access via a wireless connection.  The beauty is that many devices/computers can be connectedc to store data in a central location.  to that end, you can also easily share data between devices as they just must connect to the hard drive at different times.  If you are computer and tech inclined you can even build your own wireless hard drive with a hard drive enclosure and a simple hard drive.

Yes you can used your wireless hard drive for as many laptops as you want. They link to the drive much like they link to your wireless internet router.
